Lomond Community Development

Lomond Community Development (LCD) is a volunteer group who's goal is to promote the village of Lomond and surrounding area as a place to grow your business, your family and enjoy country living.  With the wide open space, star filled skies, pristine clean air and enough water to meet all your recreational needs, Lomond is a great place to call home.

LCD Projects:

The latest project besides this web site and help with the history book was helping with the re-branding and new logo for the Village of Lomond.  We also maintain the Booby Badger costume along with overseeing Badger Bucks a local currency that can be used with any of the town businesses.
Village Of Lomond

Each year we hold contests such as the Winter Wonderland that encourage the holiday spirit through dressing the town up with lights and decorations.   Community pride is very important to us and to help us keep it going strong we have flower baskets around the village and seasonal decorations.

On main street in front of the post office you will find our events sign which helps us relay things going on in our community.  We also achieve this through the community billboard placed outside the post office and the community calendar we produce.

Another initiative was the construction of area signs and tourist maps.

We also provide any help to existing businesses and any new businesses looking to call Lomond home.  We are always open to new ideas and help implementing them.  We are here to help you and to help make Lomond the best it can be.

Lomond Community Library

The Lomond Community Library was initiated in 1981 by a few interested and determined community members.  It was named the Lomond Comunity Library to reflect that it was to be used by not only the village but the surrounding area.  It started small with all donated books but through the work and donations of many volunteers it has become a community hub providing access to almost unlimited materials.  Through grants and membership in the Chinook Arch Regional Library System, our library has managed to keep pace with new technologies and is able to provide on-line access, video conference courses and meetings, e-books, wireless internet and regular deliver of materials ordered.  Our level off service is close to that of a large library and this makes it and important addition to our community.

Lomond Community Multi-Purpose Facility

This is a new building that was completed in 2010 and is adjacent to the existing school.  The Facility provides a location for fund raising events, concerts, plays, funerals, sporting tournaments and a regulation size gym for the students at the school.  This project was mad possible through fund raising, community donations, oil company donations, Alberta Lottery Fund CFEP, Alberta Government Major Community Facilities Program, Vulcan County Grant and support from Horizon School Division.  The facility is a great addition to the village and used by the entire community.
